Reliable EMC screening

for standard and special applications

Increasing electro-magnetic radiation and the growing sensitivity of electronic components necessarily bring about cable glands playing an important role in a system’s screening concept. They help machines to produce trouble-free and at the speed required. In the production series UNI Dicht and blueglobe, we offer various solutions for the special field of application on hand.

The new blueglobe TRI is currently the one and only EMC cable gland that separates sealing and EMC screening from each other, thus attaining maximum damping values: Over 80 dB up to 100 MHz and even in the frequency range up to 2.5 GHz typically at least 50 dB. A triangular spring encloses the cable’s braided screen. The design of the spring precludes its getting caught in the braiding should there be any stripping.

The EMC cable glands UNI HF Dicht and UNI IRIS with an annular ring on the inside made of stainless steel are also convenient and reliable. When the pressure screw is tightened up, the sealing insert presses this annular ring uniformly around the bared braided screen of the cable. This 360° bonding is the result - without the braided screen having to be trimmed or widened. Therefore, the cable’s braided screen remains stable and attains maximum damping values. Clear installation benefits are obtained, since the cable only has to be released from its outer jacket at the point of contact.

The lowest cost solution is offered by UNI Entstör Dicht, where the cable’s braided screen is placed on a taper in the gland. The sealing insert securely presses the braid against the taper. However, widening the braid might cause tiny interstices to arise in the EMC screen.

For higher demands, users employ the UNI EMC with two tapers. Here, the insulation is stripped from the cable, the only slightly widened braided screen led between the tapers as per DIN 89 345, securely bonded there, and integrated into the EMC concept through an earthing insert and gland body. A further benefit is the high ampacity.

Steel-reinforced cables can be securely led and sealed with the variant blueglobe AC from M20 to M85 in accordance with the British Standard "Armoured Cables". Here, the cable’s metal reinforcement is bonded via a special brass clamping ring. The reinforcement need no longer be trimmed or splayed, and the laborious threading between the earthing tarps tappers is also a thing of the past, therefore installation times are cut down on considerably.

For screened frequency converter cables, motor lines and bus cables, where individual leads must be separately screened, PFLITSCH fits out blueglobe EMC brass with selective screen link-up. Screen spiral halves safely bond the outer screen and take up the two separately screened leads on the inside.
