Increased strain relief

The new UNI Dicht® Wire Mesh gland enables up to 9-fold higher strain relief over conventional cable glands to be achieved.

A frictional connection is reached between the cable and braiding, because the wire mesh diameter is reduced with strain and rests against the cable with tension. The construction does not constrict the cable very much and offers increased bending protection.

The cable wire mesh used comprises high-grade, galvanised, 19-strand Bowden cable litz wire, stainless steel flexible wire DIN 1.4401, or plastic monofilament.

Fields of application:
Large cable diameters in wind-power plants, on construction sites, foot switches, energy cables and control lines.

Principle of the wire mesh
The cylindrical, flexible wire mesh adapts itself to the cable’s diameter and is lodged slip-proof on the cable sheathing. Tension on the cable constricts the wire mesh. Non-positive transmission of tensile forces is achieved (Figs. 2+3).
The particular cable diameter concerned must be within the clamping range of the wire mesh. With a wire mesh selected too large, increased strain relief cannot be achieved. Compared to a standard gland 24055d 28 with 27 mm cable diameter, UNI Dicht® Wire Mesh causes up to 6-times greater strain relief. Compared to competitors, up to 3-times greater strain relief has been achieved.
