The splittable UNI Split Gland from PFLITSCH made of plastic

PFLITSCH UNI Split Gland –
the splittable cable gland for feeding pre-assembled cables

First splittable cable gland

PFLITSCH’s UNI Split Gland is the market’s first fully splittable single cable gland made from plastic or metal for feeding pre-assembled cables through a drill hole. What’s really clever about it is that because the gland body is split, the entire hole diameter in the enclosure or control cabinet can be utilised to feed pre-assembled connectors.

Easy retrofitting or replacement

The split design has another guaranteed benefit for you: if necessary, you can retrofit cables or replace old or defective cable glands very easily without having to interfere with the existing installation. In other words, you can do this without stopping the machine.

Open for pre-assembled cables

Both the body and the pressure screw of the UNI Split Gland consist of two halves. You simply place the gland around the pre-assembled cables to be fed in. The principle is much the same for the sealing inserts, which are slit at the side to allow pre-assembled cables to be pushed through them.

A firm grip on tightness of seal and strain relief

The UNI Split Gland is based on the UNI Dicht principle. This ensures both a secure seal and a high degree of strain relief for the cables in accordance with EN 62444 and prevents irreparable damage due to strangling. The soft pressing action of the sealing insert over a large area, the seal in the plane of the split and a further seal at the connection thread ensure IP 67 protection (in accordance with EN 60529) and Type 4 or 4X. The corresponding TPE-V sealing inserts in the UNI Dicht range – from closed to multiple – can be fitted into the split cable gland and provide a large sealing range.

Accessories

Slit sealing inserts: from standard to multiple

When feeding pre-assembled cables, slit sealing inserts are necessary in order to get the full benefit from the UNI Split Gland’s split design. The overall concept for these products is based on full splittability and the slit sealing inserts are an essential part of it. As an additional advantage, the multiple sealing inserts make it possible to insert multiple pre-assembled cables within a minimum of space, even those with varying thicknesses.

Sealing inserts for flat or special cables

Our portfolio also includes sealing inserts for flat or special cables. These inserts can be supplied in either TPE-V or TPE (T80s). Closed sealing inserts are likewise available. Moreover, we offer the “punching as required” principle: Simply state the desired hole pattern and we will drill it for you in the corresponding closed sealing insert. Alternatively, users can make the holes themselves with special drills. Any holes not used in a multiple sealing insert can be sealed with blanks.

Assembly

The UNI Split Gland is quick and easy to assemble thanks to the low component count. Simply place the cable or cables in the sealing insert. Our handy expanding pliers can help you here. Now fit the two halves of the gland body around the cables in the sealing insert, bring the two halves together ready to engage and finally lock them together. The cable gland body must now be installed in the enclosure and the sealing insert pushed into it. Then place the two parts of the pressure screw around the installation, clip them together as well and screw them onto the gland body. If the UNI Split Gland later needs to be dismantled, the two gland halves can be unlocked again without any problem using a screwdriver.
